Yokneam, Israel-based Mellanox Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: MLNX) is buying Kotura Inc., which develops silicon photonics, for $82 million.
Kotura, headquartered in Monterey Park, Calif., develops technology that helps to enable high-speed networks, often used by fiber-optic telecommunications systems.
Mellanox expects the deal to increase its ability to deliver high-speed networks with optical connectivity to data center customers. The deal was announced May 15. Computer networks use Mellanox’s products for data transfer and storage.
The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2013.
