Marubeni Corp. is buying 15.25 percent of Aircastle Ltd. (NYSE: AYR) for $209 million.

The purchase price works out to $17 per share. On June 5, before the deal was announced, Aircastle's shares closed at $14.45. On June 7, one day after the deal was announced, the shares opened at $16.02. 

Stamford, Conn.-based Aircastle buys, leases and sells commercial jets.

Marubeni, headquartered in New York and founded in Osaka, is a general trading company that acts as an intermediary, importer/exporter, facilitator or broker in various types of trade among businesses and countries.

Aircastle says the deal will allow it to take advantage of Marubeni’s global presence and expand into new markets.
