Kodiak Building Partners has continued expanding in Texas with a plan to acquire Barnsco Inc.

Barnsco, headquartered in Dallas, makes and distributes rebar and concrete accessories to the commercial construction and road building markets in north central Texas and southeastern Michigan. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Denver-based Kodiak makes and distributes building products in Texas, Colorado and Boston. The group recently picked up AO Inc., a Dallas-based building materials company.

Construction spending in June totaled $950 billion at a seasonally adjusted annual rate, down 1.8 percent from May but up 5.5 percent from June 2013, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Several companies have been making building products deals. In August, Argosy Private Equity and Graycliff Partners invested in Fairway Building Products, and Succession Capital Inc. bought Wine Valley Siding Supply Inc.
