Private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. LLP (NYSE: KKR) is buying a controlling stake in Alliance Tire Group for an undisclosed amount.

Alliance Tire develops manufactures and supplies off-highway tires for the agricultural, forestry and construction industries. The tires, branded under the names Alliance, Galaxy and Primex, are made in Israel and India.

KKR bought its stake from an affiliate of Warburg Pincus. Company founder Yogesh Mahansaria will retain a stake.

New York-based KKR’s portfolio companies include Energy Future Holdings Corp., Dollar General Corp. and Fotolia. In March, the company sold its stake in BMG Rights Management GmbH;
