Kindred Healthcare Inc. (NYSE: KND) agreed to purchase Senior Home Care Inc. for $95 million.

Senior Home Care is considered one of the largest home nursing companies in the Southeast with 47 locations, 19 of them in Louisiana.

The company has annual revenue of roughly $143 million and offers a variety of services, including home health aides as well as physical, speech and occupational therapy. The company’s Louisiana operations include two locations in Baton Rouge, and one in Plaquemine, New Orleans, Covington, Lafayette, Opelousas, and Hammond.

Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred has about 72,000 employees across 46 states. The deal boosts the buyer’s care management division, especially in Louisiana where it already operates Kindred Hospital-New Orleans and five acute rehabilitation units.

Kindred expects to complete the acquisition by the end of 2013.

The acquisition follows several other medical center deals, including the sale of Urgent Medical Care to US Healthworks, Bregal Partners' purchase of ReMed Recovery Care Centers LLC and Mednax Inc.’s (NYSE: MD) acquisition of Dayton Newborn Care Specialists Inc.
