Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) has acquired Eagleton Engineering LLC to expand the company’s midstream and upstream pipeline engineering capabilities.

Houston-based Eagleton specializes in pipeline engineering, providing services mainly to the oil, gas and petrochemical industries. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

Jacobs, headquartered in Pasadena, Calif., provides technical professional and construction services. The company also expects the acquisition to build up its design and field surveying services.  In November, the company bought the assets of Marmac Field Services Inc., a company that provided engineering, design, mapping and other project-support services to the oil and gas industry.

The deal comes during a wave of M&A activity in oil and gas services. In February, Regal Beloit Corp. (NYSE: RBC) bought Hy-Bon Engineering Co. Inc., which provides vapor recovery services to oil and gas companies to help them meet emissions standards. Also in February, Allegheny Technologies Inc. (NYSE: ATI) picked up Dynamic Flowform Corp., which provides components to several industries, including oil and gas.
