J. Rettenmaier & Söhne Group closed a deal for Absorption Corp., a manufacturer of pet products.

Absorption, headquartered in Ferndale, Wash., makes small-animal bedding and other pet products. The company’s brands include CareFresh, Healthy Pet and CritterCare.

Rosenberg, Germany-based J. Rettenmaier manufactures fibers from raw plant material used in the pet care, food, nutrition, pharmaceutical, chemical and construction industries.

The company was owned by private equity firm Kinderhook Industries. The firm generated a return of approximately 2.4 times for Kinderhook Capital Fund III with the deal. Kinderhook has about $770 million in committed capital.

Harris Williams & Co. advised Absorption Corp. on the deal.
