IXYS Corp. (Nasdaq: IXYS) has closed a deal for Samsung Group’s four- and eight-bit microcontroller line.

The line includes microcontrollers for consumer, medical, automotive, telecommunications and power management applications. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Microcontrollers are microprocessors that control some or all of the functions of an electronic device, such as a home appliance, or system. 

IXYS’ subsidiary, Zilog Inc., will offer the microcontrollers. Zilog supplies embedded system-on-chip services to the industrial and consumer markets.

The Milpitas, Calif.-based buyer develops semiconductors, high-voltage integrated circuits and microcontrollers that aim to conserve energy.
