Security Innovation has acquired Safelight, a firm that trains professionals in information security.

Safelight, headquartered in Boston, aims to help companies develop security education programs.

Wilmington, Massachusetts-based Security Innovation is a software-security assessment and training company. The group says that deal is the next step in a strategy to educate software teams and staff on security.

The acquisition comes during an active time for the e-learning sector. In June, test-preparation company Kaplan acquired Dev Bootcamp, which develops training tools for software developers. Also in June, MasteryConnect agreed to pay $5 million for Soctrative, a mobile educational exercise creator.
