Hunter Wise Financial Group, the California-based middle market investment bank, has added Russell Gorman to its ranks as a managing director.

Gorman has experience as a director with Merrill Lynch’s high yield credit research team and with Moody’s as a senior analyst and vice president.

With Hunter Wise, Gorman will work on energy and consumer products evaluations for middle market deals.

Hunter Wise has been on a recruiting roll as of late. In February, it added Christopher Lawless as a managing director to its Oregon office; the Maryland graduate is experienced with VC, operations and business development. Late last year, the investment bank also brought on Christopher Gayde to work as managing director of its life sciences group.

Lately, recruiters have been on a roll in the dealmaking business. Chicago-based Buccino & Associates added Thomas McCabe to its practice and LBC Credit Partners added John Jadach to its ranks. Additionally, Oak Hill Capital Partners added Mark Pacala as a senior advisor overseeing healthcare deals and investment banks William Blair and Houlihan Lokey each recruited new talent.

Banks are seeking out entire new teams of talent. Credit Suisse is looking to hire a global leveraged finance team, M&A Journal sister publication Leveraged Finance News reported, and Morgan Keegan is looking to establish a new investment banking division.
