Private equity-backed H-D Advanced Manufacturing Co. is set to buy Crown Precision Machining, a maker of parts used in aerospace and defense applications.

Irwindale, California-based Crown, which manufactures and assembles high-precision machined components, was sold for an undisclosed price.

H-D is backed by Weinberg Capital Group, Hicks Equity Partners and the Riverside Company, whose co-CEOs won Mergers & Acquisitions M&A Mid-Market Dealmakers of the Year award for 2013.

The firms founded H-Din 2012 with the intent of rolling up manufacturing companies.

Since then, H-D became the owner of such manufacturing business as Sungear Inc.; Overton Chicago Gear Corp., a manufacturer of gears and gearboxes; Innovative Mechanical Solutions, a manufacturer of bearings; and Leading Edge Heat Treating Services Ltd., a provider of heat treating services.

Crown is the fifth acquisition completed by H-D.
