Groupon (Nasdaq: GRPN) is buying SideTour for an undisclosed amount.

SideTour, headquartered in New York, aims to connect customers with experts who can provide tours and ideas to explore cities.  The events, in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., usually have about 12 people and include food, drinks, architecture, history, art and more.

The deal will allow Groupon to offer its users more personalized and local activities. Chicago-based Groupon sells discounted activities and services for businesses to customers.

Groupon has been very acquisitive in 2013, also buying Blink, Plumfare Inc., Mashlogic Inc. and Glassmap. 

In September 2012, Groupon picked up Savored, a restaurant reservation company, to build upon its Groupon Now business. In May 2012, the company bought point-of-sale mobile application maker Breadcrumb
