GigOptix Inc. (NYSE: GIG) is buying Tahoe RF Semiconductor Inc., a provider of chip systems.
Auburn, California-based Tahoe RF develops low-power transmitters, direct conversion receivers, low noise amplifiers and other products. GigOptix expects the products to help it strengthen its wireless product line.
GigOptix, headquartered in San Jose, California, supplies semiconductor components that are used for cloud connectivity, data centers, consumer electronics and other communications networks.
Recent semiconductor deals have included Analog Devices Inc.'s June agreement to buy smaller chipmaker Hittite Microwave Corp. in a $2 billion transaction, and Microchip Technology Inc.'s (Nasdaq: MCHP) deal for Supertex Inc. in February.
