Genstar Capital-backed MW Industries has acquired Helical Products Co. Inc. for an undisclosed amount.

Helical, headquartered in Santa Maria, California, manufactures standard and custom couplings, u-joints and machined springs.

MW says the acquisition should allow it to expand in the aerospace and aviation, agriculture, medical, recreational and other industrial markets. The buyer provides engineered springs, specialty fasteners and other parts to industrial companies.

The Rosemont, Illinois-based company has made several add-on acquisitions. In January, MW bought Maudlin & Son Manufacturing, which makes slotted shims and other industrial supplies, and in July, acquired Mohawk Spring Corp., a spring manufacturer.

San Francisco private equity firm Genstar bought MW in 2011. The firm invests in middle-market health care, software, financial services and industrial technology businesses.
