Foley & Lardner added Francisco J. Cerezo as partner to its Miami office, where he will serve as chair of the Latin America Practice and as a member of the Transactional & Securities and International Practices.

Prior to his new position, Cerezo was a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig in Miami.

Cerezo focus his practice on domestic and international business matters which includes the Caribeean. His broad range of experiences stems from cross-border transactions, public-private partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, divestitures, joint ventures, fund formation and management, to general corporate counseling.

Jay Rothman, chair of the firm’s Transactional & Securities Practice said in a company press release that Francisco’s deep knowledge of business opportunities in Latin America will be a critical resource to the firm.

Cerezo will work closely with attorneys throughout the firm specializing in Latin America, including V. Manuel Rocha, who joined Foley’s Miami office in 2009 as senior advisor on international business and previously served as US Ambassador to Bolivia. Cerezo will also team up with Guillermo J. Fernández-Quincoces based on his substantial international tax practice.

Cerezo is also a member of the firm's hospitality, resort and golf, insurance, and energy industry teams.

Cerezo received his J.D. from Columbia Law School, his LL.M. in European Union Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He attended the University of Virginia where he received his masters and his bachelor degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
