FOCUS LLC, a Washington, D.C., mid-market investment bank, named Frank Slacik as its new chief financial officer. Slacik comes to FOCUS from JMP Securities, where he also served as a CFO. He is the bank’s first CFO; prior to his arrival FOCUS outsourced financial operations to a CPA.

The bank also announced the appointment of Jim Pursiano to a managing director slot in its San Francisco office. Pursiano comes from Applied Materials’ business development shop, where he was also a managing director.

Slacik held positions in Europe with Citibank and also worked with Bank of America. He was also president of StockPower, a brokerage firm. Pursiano, before joining Applied Materials, spent 11 years in a variety of assignments with Chevron.

"The depth of knowledge Frank brings from managing both domestic and overseas financial operations made him a must-have CFO candidate," said Doug Rodgers, chief executive officer of FOCUS.
