Fifth Street Management LLC – Frederick Buffone has been appointed managing director and head of capital markets by Fifth Street Management and Michael David has been hired to lead Fifth Street Technology Partners. Buffone will work on middle-market loan syndications and club transactions for specialty finance company Fifth Street Finance Corp. (Nasdaq: FSC) and Fifth Street Senior Floating Rate Corp. (Nasdaq: FSFR), a business development company. Before joining Fifth Street, Buffone was director of debt capital markets and syndications at TD Securities (USA) LLC. Before TD, Buffone held similar roles at Jefferies & Co. and CIBC World Markets. David, head of venture lending business Fifth Street Technology Partners, was previously the co-head of Orix Venture Finance LLC. Fifth Street Technology will be based in Silicon Valley with an office in Dallas.

Porter Hedges LLP – Jeremy Mouton joins Porter Hedges as a partner in the Houston law firm’s energy group. His practice will focus on advising oil and gas companies on corporate, transactional and commercial matters, with an emphasis on upstream joint ventures, acquisitions and divestitures. Previously, Mouton was an attorney at the Commercial Law Group in Oklahoma City, and, before that, served as an associate attorney with Bracewell & Giuliani in Houston.

Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP – New York law firm Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton is adding Thomas Devaney as a partner to the corporate practice group. He specializes in counseling sponsors and management teams of private funds, including hedge funds, real estate funds and renewable energy funds. Devaney will be based in New York. Before the move, Devaney was a partner at Morrison & Foerster, where he led the company’s private funds practice in New York for more than seven years.
