Facebook Inc. (Nasdaq: FB) is buying Mobile Technologies for an undisclosed amount.

Mobile Technologies, headquartered in Pittsburgh, develops speech recognition and machine translation technology.

The company developed the mobile application Jibbigo, which allows users to select a language, record a voice snippet or type in text, which results in either a voice and text translation.

Menlo Park, Calif.-based Facebook plans to use the voice technology in its products.

Other recent language deals include Rosetta Stone’s April purchase of Livemocha, an online language-learning website and Frontier Capital’s investment in business translation service MultiLing
