F5 Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: FFIV) is buying Tel Aviv-based Versafe Ltd. as a means of strengthening its web security services.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The deal comes in the midst of rapid data traffic growth and increased network complexity among data and communication centers. F5, which specializes in developing software that directs data traffic between web and application servers, looks to Verasafe as a way to enhance its web and mobile anti-fraud services. anti-phishing and anti-malware.

Versafe’s entire 40 employee team will remain with the company and continue operating out of Israel, along with the company’s three founders.

The Seattle-based buyer, which recently opened an engineering location in Bellevue, Wash., has also been on the hunt for acquisition targets in 2013. In February, F5 bought Louisville, Colo.-based software developer LineRate Systems for an undisclosed price.

The company has been especially acquisitive since hiring Manny Rivelo, a 19-year veteran of software rival Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO). Rivelo joined F5 in 2011 as vice president of security and strategic solutions, promising to bolster the company’s presence across the security market.
