The Estée Lauder Cos. (NYSE: EL) is buying luxury perfume group Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle for an undisclosed amount. Editions de Parfums, founded in Paris, provides a collection of exclusive, luxury fragrances curated by founder Frédéric Malle. The current perfume collection has 21 fragrances that were created by 12 perfumers, and are sold in stand-alone store in Paris and New York, as well as Barney's in the U.S. and Liberty in London. New York-based Estée Lauder also owns beauty brands Amais, Clinique, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Smashbox and many others. BNP Paribas was Estée Lauder's financial adviser, while Lowenstein Sandler LLP and Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co. LLP. Dentons and Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP provided legal advice to the target. Other recent luxury consumer goods transactions include Adrian's acquisition of ADA Cosmetics International GmbH in July, and Change Capital Partners' investment in luxury linens group Frette.
