All In Media, founded in 2007 by Chris Gould and Jason Malaure, engages broadcasting clients to connect with listeners through mobile applications. Using the target’s services, radio stations and visual radio broadcast stations can customize templates to build apps for iOS and Android devices. All In Media’s broadcast system service, called Rapid, enables stations to create and publish visual content across mobile phones, online and digital and FM radio. The target's list of clients include: BBC Radio, Fairfax Media, Absolute Radio, Wireless Group plc, WRN Broadcast, Orion, and UK Radioplayer. All In Media operates from offices in London and Sydney, Australia. DTS is an audio technology business that was acquired by licensing technology firm Tessera on Dec. 1, 2016. Founded in 1993, DTS develops audio tech for high-definition entertainment used on mobile devices, home theater systems, cinema, and video and music streaming services. The buyer boasts that the company’s technology has been integrated in more than two billion devices worldwide. DTS is headquartered in Calabasas, California with additional offices across the U.S., Ireland, United Kingdom, China and Japan. As part of the previous deal, DTS and Tessera will merge under a new corporate name and brand identity that has yet to be announced. Tech deals have been a driving source for M&A in 2016, especially as the demand for streaming and mobile technology is shifting how millennials view content. Recent mobile technology deals include: Qualcomm Inc.’s (Nasdaq: QCOM) $47 billion agreement to purchase NXP Semiconductors NV (Nasdaq: NXPI) to expand beyond the smartphone market; Twitter’s (NYSE: TWTR) acquiring Magic Pony Technology to improve video and image quality in tweets; and AT&T Inc.’s (NYSE: T) purchase of video content company Quickplay Media Inc. from Madison Dearborn Partners for the company’s Internet video streaming service.
