Direct Energy will purchase private retail electricity provider Bounce Energy for $46 million.

Bounce Energy, headquartered in Houston, has an e-commerce service that Direct Energy hopes will increase its digital sales.

The deal should also strengthen Direct Energy’s residential energy business.

The buyer is a subsidiary of Centrica plc (LSE: CNA), an energy company. Houston-based Direct Energy operates in 46 states, the District of Columbia and 10 provinces in Canada.

Recent energy deals include D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments LLC and Bright Plain Renewable Energy’s purchase of five solar projects,
