CI Capital Partners and former Hub Group executive Mark Yeager have partnered to pursue investments in the transportation and logistics space. The two will start out by seeking a platform company.
Yeager spent 23 years at logistics provider Hub Group where his roles included general counsel, president and chief operating officer. New York-based CI Capital is not currently invested in any logistics companies. The PE firm focuses on making up to $100 million in equity investments in deals.
“I believe that now is an attractive time to pursue a platform company investment in the logistics industry, given continued outsourcing by shippers,” says Yeager. A rapid growing e-commerce market has consumers demanding faster shipping times without paying higher fees, which has been making logistic providers attractive targets.
In other logistics deals, Jordan Co.-backed American Fast Freight Inc. bought ocean freight provider Global Transportation Services Inc.; Bregal Sagemount invested in freight services company Internet Truckstop Group; and Revelstoke Capital-backed Transport Holdings LLC acquired truck provider Jones Motor Group.
