Caspian Private Equity LLC — Sheryl Schwartz has joined the New York private equity firm as managing director. She has been appointed to Caspian’s investment and executive committees. As part of Caspian’s investment team, she will lead investments in primary and secondary funds. Prior to joining Caspian, Schwartz was a managing director at Perseus Finance in New York from 2010 to April 2013. Before that, she was at Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association for 22 years.


Gist Digital LLCSumeet Shah (pictured), known to his Twitter followers as @PE_Feeds, is joining the New York consulting company as director of client relationships. Gist focuses on providing clients with strategies for mobile and website development strategies and is headed by Dylan St. John Foster, a former manager at Cisco SytemsInc. (Nasdaq: CSCO), and Abhi Patwardhan, director of mobile development at Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE:GCI). Shah spent the past five years in business development at Gotham Consulting Partners, a New York consulting firm that serves PE firms. With 4,300 followers on Twitter, he will continue to tweet about private equity.


Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP — Asha Scielzo, most recently an adjunct faculty member for American University Washington College of Law, was hired by the law firm as special counsel in Washington. At American University, Scielzo was teaching healthcare business transactions and fraud prevention. Before that, she was at Jones Day where she specialized in health law.


Proskauer Rose LLP — Kevin Hackett has joined the New York law firm as a member of the private equity real estate practice. Hackett’s extensive real estate experience is expected to complement Proskauer’s team.


Robert W. Baird & Co. — The Milwaukee-based banking and wealth-management firm has named Brian Doyal and Brian McDonagh co-heads of global investment banking, effective Jan. 1, 2014. Doyal and McDonagh, both 49, will succeed Steve Booth (pictured), who was appointed chief operating officer in early 2013. Booth, chosen in January to eventually succeed chief executive Paul Purcell in 2014, will continue to lead investment banking through the end of 2013. McDonagh is currently co-head of global M&A, while Doyal is head of services and health care investment banking. Other changes at the bank include: Peter Kies, who co-headed the equity capital markets desk with Greg Ingram, has been named head of technology and services investment banking. Ingram will continue to head equity capital markets.


Stephens Inc. — The Little Rock, Ark. investment bank has expanded the research division’s health care and technology practice. Mohan Naidu (pictured) has been named vice president and research analyst in Chicago, where he will launch coverage of the health care information technology sector. Naidu was previously with Piper Jaffray & Co., also in Chicago. Before that, he was with General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE), where he helped develop products for health care imaging and advised GE on the acquisitions of IDX Systems in 2006 and Dynamic Imaging LLC in 2007.


Tenere Inc. — The Dresser, Wisc.-based designer and fabricator of complex metal and plastic components and assemblies, appointed Greg Adams as chief executive. Adams will be responsible for growing the company organically and through acquisitions. Tenere, a portfolio company of Boston private equity firm Watermill Group, recent purchased Westminster, Colo.-based manufacturer Protogenic in May.
