Blucora Inc. (Nasdaq: BCOR) is buying Monoprice for $180 million.

Monoprice, headquartered in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., sells a brand of consumer electronics and accessories online. The company sells cables, home theater equipment, networking and information technology products, mobile accessories, PC and gaming accessories and professional audio equipment.

Bellvue, Wash.-based Blucora operates two Internet businesses: Infospace, which provides online search and monetization services; and TaxAct, which provides online tax preparation services.

The deal is meant to expand Monoprice into a mainstream consumer brand, according to Monoprice CEO Ajay Kumar.
