Back to Nature Foods Co. LLC has acquired the SnackWell’s cookies and snacks business from Mondelez Global LLC.
SnackWell’s cookies and snacks business includes reduced-fat snacks, such as Crème Sandwich Cookies, Devil’s Food cakes, fudge pretzels, yogurt pretzels and popcorn products in portion-controlled sizes.
Back to Nature makes crackers, cookies, nuts, trail mix, granolas and juices. The company is backed by private equity firm Brynwood Partners. The firm, in partnership with snack group Mondelez, formed Back to Nature as a joint venture in 2012.
Brynwood, headquartered in Greenwich, Conn., focuses on making control investments in North American lower middle-market companies. The firm recently agreed to sell DeMet’s Candy Co., maker of Turtles chocolates, to Yildiz Holding AS for $221 million. In September, the firm bought the Lightlife brand, which makes vegetarian burgers, hot dogs and other meatless frozen and refrigerated items.
Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP provided legal advice to Mondelez Global LLC.
