Atlantic Natural Foods LLC is buying Lorna Linda canned foods from Kellogg Co. (NYSE: K) for an undisclosed amount.

Lorna Linda makes branded canned, shelf-stable vegetarian protein products. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Atlantic will also license the brand of vegetarian food maker Worthington Foods from Kellogg and transition it into the Lorna Linda brand, the company says. The Nashville, North Carolina-based buyer markets the Caroline's, Meatless Select and other vegetarian products, and Kaffree Roma instant coffee.

As eating habits have shifted towards lighter, better-for-you food choices, companies have sought companies touting healthier food as targets. In October, private equity firm TPG Growth bought a stake in Angie's Artisan Treats, the maker of Angie's Boomchickapop popcorn. In September, the WhiteWave Foods CO. (NYSE: WWAV) picked up snack company So Delicious Dairy Free for $195 million. For more on food M&A, see Snack Time and Vitamins, Minerals and Supplements Feed Consumers and Deals
