E-Commerce services provider NetSuite Inc. (NYSE: N) is paying $200 million to buy Bronto Software Inc.

Bronto, headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, is a cloud-based marketing company that provides email marketing services. The company's services are used by Armani Exchange, Timex, Trek Bikes and other brands.

San Mateo, California-based NetSuite provides business software processes for more than 24,000 businesses.

The purchase should help NetSuite provide services to retailers that help them meet consumer demand. "Just as customers demand seamless cross-channel shopping experiences, they increasingly expect companies to communicate consistently through all of their digital experiences, on site, at stores, in email or through social or mobile," says Zach Nelson, NetSuite's CEO.

The deal underscores the increasing importance of e-commerce for retailers. We've seen several deals in the space recently, including Anchor Equity and KKR's acquisition of Ticket Monster Inc., announced earlier in April, and Siris Capital's purchase of Digital River, an e-commerce services provider, in February.
