Argosy Private Equity and Sidereal Capital Group LLC have acquired U.C. Coatings Corp.

U.C. Coatings, headquartered in Buffalo, N.Y., manufactures and distributes wood sealing products, including the Anchorseal brand.

Argosy, headquartered in Wayne, Pa., is a private equity firm that invests in lower middle-market companies. The firm manages about $400 million in capital. Argosy is also invested in DCI/Brillcast Inc., Oneida Molded Plastics LLC and KMCO LP.

Chatham, N.J.-based Sidereal is a boutique investment firm that provides growth equity and acquisition capital. Besides U.C. Coatings, the firm is invested in VanDeMark, a specialty chemicals company.

Recent coatings deals include High Road Capital Partners’ acquisition of Electra-Finish Inc., and Oman Oil Co.’s deal for Oxea. Private equity-backed Royal Adhesives and Sealants LLC has made many acquisitions in the space, including Adco Global Inc., which it bought in July.
