Dealmakers polled in April reported the highest rate of deal flow expansion in six months, based on the composite score of 61.3 in the Mid-Market M&A Conditions Index (MACI), a barometer created by Mergers & Acquisitions and published in partnership with PwC.
Factors that had the largest impact included survey respondents’ assessment of Completed Deals, which rose to 59.2, the greatest month-over-month score in six months.
Other contributors were early-stage indicators, such as Leads, with a reading of 79.2, and Signed Letters (of Engagement and Intent), with a reading of 72.8.
All these scores dovetail with the optimism dealmakers have expressed about 2014 in the last several months of surveys and interviews.
