Electronic instruments manufacturer Ametek Inc. has wrapped up the acquisition of Creaform Inc. for roughly $120 million.

The deal ends an auction in which Novacap Technologies III LP and Desjardins Venture Capital tapped GMP Securities to run a sale process. The two firms jointly invested in Creaform in 2009.

Based in Levis, near Quebec City, Creaform is a maker of portable 3D measurement technologies. Under Novacap, the company grew through organic growth and two add-on acquisitions, including the 2010 purchases of Genicad, a Québec-based company specializing in engineering and mechanical design, and InSpeck, a 3D digitizing company.

McMillan LLP acted as legal counsel to the sellers. Ametek is based in Berwyn, Pa.
