Abacus Finance Group — The New York-based lender added three new members to its transaction team: vice president Timothy Wong (pictured), associate Eric Petersen and analyst Chengyuan Zhao. Abacus also announced the promotion of senior vice president Sean McKeever to head of underwriting and portfolio management. Abacus provides cash flow senior financing for private equity-sponsored, lower-middle market companies.
BelHealth Investment Partners — The New York private equity firm named Bud Thompson chief executive of portfolio company General Genetics Corp. Thompson previously spent more than 30 years in general health care management—most recently as chief administrative officer for Solstas Lab Partners, a portfolio company of Welsh Carson Anderson and Stowe, a New York private equity firm.
Cherry Bekaert LLP — The Richmond, Va.-based accounting firm named David Farrell a principal in the transaction advisory services practice. Cherry Bekaert expects Farrell to advise clients on all aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including the restructuring of debt and conducting due diligence.
Intervale Capital — Jason Turowsky was hired as a vice president. Turowsky was previously with Falconhead Capital where he focused on evaluating, executing and monitoring investments. Prior to Falconhead, Jason worked at UBS, where he advised on capital markets and transactions.
Lightyear Capital LLC — The New York-based private equity firm appointed Richard Korhammer, co-founder and former chief executive of Lava Trading Inc., as senior adviser. Korhammer is expected to help Lightyear source deals in the financial technology sector. In 1999, Korhammer co-founded Lava, an equities and order management system provider, which he sold to Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) in 2004. Korhammer currently serves as the chairman of Yieldbroker, an electronic marketplace for trading of debt securities and derivatives in Australia and New Zealand.
Lincoln International LLC — The Chicago investment bank has expanded in Italy through the acquisition of Rondelli Advisers, an M&A advisory firm based in Milan. The office will be led by Saverio Rondelli (pictured), a 25-year corporate finance veteran specializing in cross-border M&A. The new office comes on the heels of Lincoln’s expansion in Brazil.
McCarter & English LLP — James Coffey has joined the Boston office of the Newark, N.J.-based law firm. As a partner in the corporate, securities and financial institutions practice, Coffey will focus on startups seeking funding as well as mature businesses seeking exit strategies. Coffey joins McCarter after the June additions of David Woronov, also to the Boston office, and Joseph Bartlett in New York.
National Financial Partners Corp. (NFP) — The New York-based insurance and wealth management service appointed Michael Goldman chief operating officer. Goldman, who took the post on July 1, most recently served as executive vice president of mergers and acquisitions. Goldman began his career as an associate with law firm Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP. NFP also named senior vice president Carl Nelson head of the firm's M&A department. Prior to joining NFP, Nelson was with advisory firms Ernst & Young LLP and Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP.
Stenham Asset Management — The London investment firm appointed Damian Brannan to managing director. A 22-year financial services veteran, Brannan will be a member of Stenham’s investment advisory committee. His new role of managing director will allow Kevin Arenson, chief investment officer, to focus on investment management and risk control.
Sun Capital Partners — Gary Campanaro was appointed chief financial officer of burger chain Johnny Rockets, which the Boca Raton, Fla.-based private equity firm purchased in June for an undisclosed amount. Campanaro, a former audit manager for KPMG LLP, served in the same role for Costa Mesa, Calif.-based fast food chain El Pollo Loco and Irvine, Calif.-based Claim Jumper. In the past, Campanaro has also worked with CKE Restaurants Inc., the Carpinteria, Calif.-based parent company of Carl's Jr., Hardee's, Green Burrito, and Red Burrito chains.
Tatum LLC — The New York management and advisory services firm added ten new partners to its Mid-Atlantic practice. They include: Curtis Dudnick, David Egbert, Andrew Golub, David Mathews, George Moratis, Herbert Roberts, Chas Shaffer, Joe Stanton, Mark Weischedel and Eugene Willard. Tatum is a unit of Randstad Holding nv, a $22 billion global provider of human resource services based in Amsterdam.
TSG Consumer Partners LLC — The San Francisco firm made several appointments to the leadership of portfolio company Planet Fitness LLC, a health club and gym franchise based in Newington, N.H. Dorvin Lively has become the company’s chief financial officer while Richard Moore jumped to chief administrative officer, in addition to being executive vice president and general counsel. Moore joined Planet Fitness in July 2012 from Ropes & Gray LLC, leading Planet Fitness through the January sale to TSG. Bonnie Monahan became corporate treasurer while Anna Arico was named corporate controller.
TwinFocus Capital Partners — The Boston investment firm named Orlando Mendoza (pictured) as managing director of the company’s newly established private equity advisory unit. Prior to joining TwinFocus, Mendoza was a vice president at Harvard Management Company.
