Susan Beth, chief operating officer of NRD Capital and one of the Most Influential Women in Mid-Market M&A, thought helping her portfolio companies, like casual restaurant chain Ruby Tuesday, survive the Covid era would be her biggest challenge of 2020. Then her healthy 12-year-old son had a sudden heart attack, giving new meaning to the concept of work-life balance.

Beth’s son is being treated for his heart condition. Ruby Tuesday emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after a federal judge confirmed the restaurant chain’s reorganization plan on Feb. 17.
