“Being African American myself and knowing the challenges that I faced making progress professionally, I am proactive whenever we’re receiving a slate of candidates as we’re recruiting, to ask, ‘Are there any African American, Latinx, women, what have you, within the pool?’,” said David Grain, the founder of Grain Management. “If you look at our website, I think what you’ll find is that we have a very diverse firm. It’s really been a bit of a hand-picked effort, as opposed to some sweeping set of policies, processes or procedures. It really has to be a value of your firm and part of your philosophy.”
