“It’s really important to define what an inclusive culture means,” said Michelle Chao, head of investor relations, Bertram Capital, at our recent event, M&A’s Leaders in DEI Speak. “At Bertram, having an inclusive culture means we are welcoming and embracing of differences and promoting fairness.”

“At Withum, we are intentionally leading with inclusion,” said Bill Bradshaw, director of inclusion and diversity, Withum. “We believe in creating a best place to work for all of our team members.”

“Inclusion is all about making sure everyone is feeling safe, seen and connected,” said Johnathan Medina, head of inclusion and diversity, Apax Partners.

How can PE firms improve retention and promotion rates of diverse employees? “It’s critical for individuals to at least acknowledge those folks and recognize them as being important and critical to the firm, and making sure that the firm is invested in the individual’s long-term success,” said Bradlee Benn, executive search and leadership consultant and co-head, diversity and inclusion practice, Russell Reynolds Associates.
