We all know supply chain issues aren’t going away anytime soon. Businesses that are looking to resolve sector disruptions are in high demand, such as those with an established fleet of truck drivers. Now there’s another subsector in this area that can’t be ignored: logistics software providers.

Sole Source Capital-backed Peak Technologies today said it acquired Siena Analytics. Franklin, Mass.-based Siena offers supply chain and logistics analytics software that is designed to make logistics teams more efficient. The target uses AI to “leverage data that would otherwise be left on the distribution center floor,” according to a Siena release.

“Siena’s suite of products yield intelligence for improved supply chain and distribution visibility by leveraging A.I. and machine vision to power digital transformation from the heart of the enterprise,” he says. “With Peak’s current supply chain and logistics solutions, the Siena analytics suite will support emerging opportunities in micro-fulfillment and provide mobile and retail visibility in the omni-channel supply chain.” Peak Technologies provides supply chain automation services.

Sole Source is a Dallas-based industrials-focused PE firm that raised its second fund at $555 million last October. So no doubt the firm is not done dealmaking in the sector.

And of course whenever there’s a problem in an industry, particularly logistics, it spells opportunities for investors.

Let’s see what arises next.
