Visa (NYSE: V) is buying Currencycloud in a deal that values the target at around $963 million.

Currencycloud offers cloud-based foreign exchange technology including real-time notifications and virtual account management to banks and other financial institutions. The Currencycloud platform supports nearly 500 banking and technology clients in over 180 countries. The acquisition builds on an existing strategic partnership between the two companies.

“Consumers and businesses increasingly expect transparency, speed and simplicity when making or receiving international payments,”  says Colleen Ostrowski, Visa’s global treasurer.
