Transom Capital Group, a operations-focused middle market private equity firm, has acquired Wolters Kluwer’s Legal & Regulatory U.S. Legal Education business.

Following the deal, the business will be renamed Aspen Publishing and is a legal eduction content and digital learning service brand. Aspen is known for its “red-and-black” casebooks and legal textbooks authored by deans and professors and sold in multiple print and digital channels. The firm also sells directly to schools and libraries.

Kirkland & Ellis acted as corporate legal advisor and Perkins Coie LLP acted as the financing legal advisor to Transom. Varagon Capital Partners provided the debt financing for the transaction.
