H.I.G. Capital, a global alternative investment firm, has expanded its dedicated infrastructure team with the addition of Antonio Botija as a managing director with the firm’s London office and George Watts as a managing director with the firm’s New York office.

He brings coverage from a spectrum of industries including sustainable energy, digital, transport, and social infrastructure. Before his time with H.I.G., Botija served as head of origination & investments with Columbia Threadneedle where he led investments in the firm’s European sustainable infrastructure fund.

Watts joins the firm with two decades of experience across infrastructure private equity. He brings energy, energy transition, transportation, and communications experience to the firm. Previously, Watts served as a managing director with Stonepeak Partners where he led investments within the firm’s North American infrastructure fund and global renewable energy fund.

“We are delighted to welcome both Antonio and George to the firm,” added Andrew Liau and Ed Pallesen, co-heads of H.I.G. Infrastructure. “They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience that will prove invaluable as we continue executing our differentiated infrastructure investing strategy. In addition to broad infrastructure experience, they have a strong history of involvement in energy markets and sustainability themes, enhancing our commitment to energy transition investments and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles.”
