EY has appointed Bill Stoffel as its global private equity leader.

Bill succeeds Andres Saenz, who served as the sector leader since 2018, and has been recently appointed as the new EY global vice chair, industry.

As global PE leader, Bill will be responsible for EY global private equity strategic priorities including environmental, social and governance and digital initiatives. Bill previously served as EY Americas private equity leader for five years.

Saenz said, “The private equity industry is being reshaped by a multitude of trends that will determine how businesses will work tomorrow. Firms without a plan for the future will be disrupted, while those that adapt and embrace change will access new opportunities for growth – which is why EY focusses on building the highest performing teams to help fund and portfolio companies adapt and become agile. I am confident that Bill’s leadership ability, commitment, knowledge and extensive experience of the PE industry will enhance the value EY teams bring to PE firms and their portfolio companies across the globe.”

Stoffel said, “PE is a relatively young industry; however, it has reached a stage of maturity that requires its stakeholders to re-evaluate its long-term strategy and solidify its position as a contributor to and accelerator of our global economy. The prospering global private equity landscape and soaring valuations in the US and Europe are driving PE funds to seek opportunities that provide both growth and stability in less mature markets—this  environment demands rich regional expertise and strong connectivity between EY PE practitioners in mature and emerging markets. I look forward to working with our experienced and agile team across the globe and help clients prepare for future disruption.”
