eBay Inc. has acquired TCGplayer, a technology service for the collectibles industry and operator of an online marketplace for trading card games, for a total value of up to approximately $295 million.
The deal works to complement eBay’s focus category strategy and builds on its offerings to bring more selection to card enthusiasts. With the combination, sellers will be able to bring physical supply online and create customizable web stores. TCGplayer will continue to operate autonomously.
