Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, a private investment firm with offices in New York and London, has hired Lori Butler as director of environmental stewardship, a newly created position to help the firm’s portfolio companies build value through environmental strategies.

In her new role, Butler will work with CD&R investment teams and portfolio company management to help improve sustainability, compliance and operational initiatives across the firm’s portfolio. She will also coordinate closely with CD&R’s environmental, social and governance team on climate and environmental strategies. She brings over 20 years of experience planning and executing environmental change initiatives across various geographies and businesses. Most recently, she served as vice president of environment, health and safety at Carrier Corp. Prior to that, Butler served as global head of environment, health, safety and sustainability at Whirlpool Corp. and also worked in several senior environment, health and safety roles at General Electric.

“Lori brings a critical skill set to our team that we believe will be immediately impactful and highly valued by the companies that we partner with,” comments John Krenicki, CD&R operating partner and vice chairman.
