The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ: CG) and Stellex Capital Management have acquired IMIA Group Holdings, a portfolio company of J.F. Lehman and Co. IMIA is a supplier of multi-disciplined marine services for the maintenance, repair and overhaul and new construction of United States Navy vessels.

Harris Williams, a global investment bank focused in M&A advisory services, advised IMIA in the transaction. IMIA is a primary independent provider of comprehensive marine vessel services. The firm has a workforce of over 1,500 employees in USN and independent shipyards.

Carlyle and Stellex are private equity investment firms that aim to provide stability, improvement, growth and create value on behalf of its investors and portfolio companies.

“With Carlyle and Stellex, IMIA has two great partners for its next phase of growth, and we look forward to watching the continued success of the business in the years to come,” said Doug Kinard, managing director at Harris Williams.

“IMIA has established itself as a leader in outsourced maritime services, serving every ship and submarine type in the fleet across every geography in the continental U.S. and Hawaii,” stated Greg Waller, director at Harris Williams. “Long-term trends in outsourced maritime services, accelerated by continued U.S. investment in the expanding fleet, will translate into significant growth opportunities for the business over the next decade.”
