Carlyle (NASDAQ: CG), a global investment firm, has acquired a majority interest in Sciens Building Solutions, a full-service commercial fire and life safety company, from middle-market private equity firm, Huron Capital. The firm’s senior managers and Huron will retain minority equity stakes.

Sciens focuses on design, installation and provision of maintenance services for fire detection and protection systems in commercial, institutional and government facilities. Sciens has made investments in people, technology and corporate infrastructure to experiene organic growth. The firm has completed 13 acquisitions to become a scaled, national provider of critical FLS services.

“We have a clear focus to become the largest independent FLS integrator in North America by building a scalable platform with a world-class management team,” stated Terry Heath, Sciens CEO and founder. “As a result of the investments we made, we grew rapidly and successfully integrated numerous acquisitions.”
