American Beverage Corp., a subsidiary of Brynwood Partners-backed Harvest Hill Beverage Co., has bought Poppilu, a lemonade brand for children founded by Melanie Kahn.

Chicago-based Poppilu is a line of kids’ lemonade sold in pouches. The products are crafted to give children an eye-catching organic beverage that is “bold on flavor, not on sugar.” Poppilu has no added refined sugar and only seven grams of sugar per serving. Poppilu was originally founded in 2017 with the debut of bottled lemonades targeted toward adults.

“Poppilu makes a great addition to our existing portfolio and helps expand our strong foundation of kids’ beverages,” says Ilene Bergenfeld, chief marketing officer of Harvest Hill Beverage Co. “We are especially excited that the product was crafted by a mom with kids in mind, which comes through in the bold taste and better-for-you benefits that will resonate with consumers.”
