AccuWeather Global Weather Center has acquired Plume Labs, an environmental technology company, for an undisclosed amount. The company was integrated in January 2022 and the deal was closed in December of 2021.

Plume Labs is best known for its AI/ML air pollution forecasts and personal air pollution sensor, Flow. The Paris-based environmental technology company provides people and organizations with air pollution data and expertise. It will continue to operate within the AccuWeather group, providing climate and environmental data, as well as scaling up to provide air quality forecasts to AccuWeather’s 1.5 billion-strong audience.

Under AccuWeather, Plume Labs will also expand its focus beyond air quality to other environmental risks. The Plume Labs acquisition will also accelerate AccuWeather’s investments in using AI to help predict weather more accurately. This represents AccuWeather’s 15th acquisition throughout its 59 year history.

“Plume Labs has been a valued partner over the last several years, and we are thrilled to merge our respective core competencies in what we know will be a major step forward for innovation within our industry resulting in more healthful choices for people,” said AccuWeather president Steven Smith.
