Mergers & Acquisitions names the 2023 Most Influential Women in Mid-Market M&A, including Reed Smith’s Michelle Moore.

How did you further your firm’s ESG goals?
As part of the management committee, I was involved in creating the firm’s Global Environmental Sustainability Plan 2024. The plan is focused on three key initial priorities:

  1. Reducing carbon emissions: In accordance with the best available science, the firm recognizes the urgent need to accelerate the transition toward global net zero emissions. Reed Smith is initially committed to reducing its carbon footprint by 20 percent by 2024. The firm will publish its progress against this target in order to provide transparency on this critical issue.
  2. Recycling: The firm is aiming to make all products used across its global operations recyclable or reusable by 2024.
  3. Internal engagement: The firm will appoint two sustainability partners and two sustainability champions to drive the progress of the firm’s sustainability goals. It will also establish a “green team” with representation from all its offices to ensure it achieves its sustainability goals throughout the firm.

How are you advancing the state of women?
In my past 24 years at what is now the Chicago office of Reed Smith, I have mentored and sponsored dozens of women lawyers, both here and as their careers have taken them in-house, to other firms, and to other careers altogether. I am also an active member of both the firm’s and the Chicago office’s local WINRS (Women’s Initiative Network, Reed Smith) network.
