Mergers & Acquisitions names the 2023 Most Influential Women in Mid-Market M&A, including GTCR LLC’s Anna May Trala.

How did you further your firm’s ESG goals?
As a member of GTCR’s ESG-DEI steering committee, I help lead the collection, analysis and reporting of standardized metrics to measure the firm and portfolio companies’ effectiveness across established ESG-DEI initiatives. Specifically, I have helped guide the firm’s work with the Institutional Limited Partners Association’s ESG data convergence initiative, which is bringing meaningful ESG metrics for the private equity industry.

I incorporate ESG-DEI risks and opportunities in the diligence and underwriting processes, and have integrated monitoring of ESG-DEI key performance indicators (KPIs) during the investment life cycle. I’ve been particularly mindful of inclusivity when creating the framework for these metrics and, in some cases, lead sub-committees that report back to the steering committee to advance these initiatives.

How are you advancing the state of women?
I am co-leading the GTCR Women’s Leadership Group for the firm’s investment professionals and operations managers. The group brings together women at the firm to mentor, build a community of support, share ideas and openly discuss topics that impact women, especially as they traverse through their careers.

In addition to mindful recruitment of strong female candidates, as well as my work starting the GTCR Women’s Leadership Group, I make myself accessible to junior talent throughout the industry. One example is that I was recently a co-keynote speaker at the Women’s Association of Venture and Equity’s (WAVE) annual career forum.
