Mr. Pete Gonzalez, deputy city manager/CFO for the city of Brownsville, Texas, has a BBA degree in business administration with a major in accounting from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas. Mr. Gonzalez is a CGFM (certified government financial manager). He has been employed with the city of Brownsville since January 3, 1978 and has just completed his 33rd year with the city of Brownsville. As the deputy city manager/CFO, he assumes the duties of the city manager during the city managers absence. He is active in various civic organizations within the city. Drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967 where he saw combat action during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1969 as a staff sergeant.
