Mark Lavelle is senior vice president of strategy and business development for PayPal. In this role, he is responsible for corporate strategy and all business development efforts for the global payment service.Lavelle joined PayPal when the company acquired Bill Me Later in November 2008. As an original member of Bill Me Later's management team, Lavelle was instrumental in raising more than $300 million in private equity, securing debt financing in excess of $1 billion and negotiating several key strategic relationships with payment industry partners and retail firms.Prior to Bill Me Later, Lavelle served as vice president of Internet business development for First USA/Bank One. Throughout his career, he has held senior leadership positions in marketing analysis and credit risk management.He received a bachelor's degree in finance from the Farmer School of Business at the Miami University of Ohio.
